About

Greetings,

I am Michael Smirnoff, Technical Instructor at Excom Education in Canberra.

Primarily, I teach Cisco Networking technologies, and Novell Suse Linux.

I am Cisco Certified Systems Instructor (CCSI) #32305, and a Certified Novell Instructor.

Previously I’ve been an IT auditor (internal and external), and worked as a University tutor.

Through IT auditing, I’ve been exposed to a little bit of everything in IT (save mainframes), and am now focusing on the key areas that I find interesting and challenging - these primarily are UNIX, Virtualization, Security or Networking (not always in that order).

Auditing certainly has substantial monetary rewards, however, the auditor mindset is primarily about Find The Problem. I’d realised that my mindset is better described as Make It Work.

Hence, the aim of this blog is to share working solutions to common and obscure technical problems. Whether you’re trying to set up a CCNA lab, make sense of networking theory, or get a particular Linux tool to work the way it is meant to, chances it is possible, just not yet documented!

Join me on the journey towards Making It Work and increase the world’s technical knowledge!
